PORTRONIK
is an AAADM certified company and holds all the core competencies
required
to certify if an automatic door installation complies with the
ANSI Standards.
At the present time in Canada, there are no norms for automatic
doors other
than the current Building Code in each province. These various
Codes do not have
a section which specifies regulations related to automatic doors
and simply reflect
the norms concerning handicapped persons access to the buildings.
Canadian
companies use the American ANSI Standards as their reference for
all that
concerns automatic doors and security. The ANSI Standards is not
a law in United
States, rather it is a reference standard used by manufacturers
and installation
companies in order to ensure a minimum level of security for automatic
doors AAADM
is a non-profit organisation with the mandate, among others, to
establish
uniform programs for training and certification of installers
in compliance with
the ANSI Standards for automatic door installation. Following
is the text describing
the AAADM as published by their communication service.

About
AAADM
The American
Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) is a trade
association
of power operated automatic door manufacturers as defined and
governed
by ANSI/BHMA A156.10.* The purpose of the Association is to
generally promote
the automatic door industry; especially in areas in which the
individual companies
cannot perform as effectively on their own. These include the
promotion of
product safety throughout the distribution chain by establishing
uniform programs for
training and certification of installers and service providers,
as well as inspection of
installations, promotion of the industry's products, and development
of improved communications.
We're open to everyone.
An
automatic door is the easiest and least expensive way to guarantee
accessibility
to everyone. All you have to do is select the type of door to
best suit your
application. Any AAADM member can help you decide whether a
swinging or sliding
door is best for you. There are a variety of criteria to consider;
egress requirements,
traffic patterns, opening size, floor space, wall space, and
special conditions.
Automatic doors can be configured to fit your functional needs
and design
specifications, whether for new construction or retrofit projects.
Be
sure of your door:
Insist
on installation and inspection by AAADM certified technicians,
who can be identified
through their certification cards. They have been trained by
their companies
and then sent to AAADM certification classes for testing on
the safety standards
that must be met be all automatic door systems. AAADM recommends
that automatic
doors be inspected yearly. Do not take chances. Talk to one
of the following
AAADM member companies. They have many years of experience,
plus the
dedication to train and certify their technicians.
